Medicine Crow in cubism

cmc1 30″ x 40″, Acrylic on canvas, 2010

This is my first successful portrait of a native american in cubism. The first time I tried to portray a native in cubism was back in 2005 which turned out to be a disaster, but I always knew I would try again. This second time around I finally got it right. In this peice I chose to paint the crow chief named “Medicine Crow”. Since this first successful peice I have gone on to portray other historical chiefs and elders as well. This painting was a breakthrough for me, an expansion of my variety. – Riel Benn (click on image to view larger version)
