Pretty Nose

This is a portrait of a cheyenne woman called “Pretty Nose”. It’s much harder to find old photos of native women than it is men. I really wish they took more photos of the woman back then. It was kinda backwards for indians a long time ago, the men were the ones that were beautifully clothed and painted, even more than the women sometimes. But the men wouldn’t have had such clothing if it weren’t for the women who made them. – Riel Benn
